HubPages Expert

I love HubPages and am a firm believer in the platform and the opportunity it presents for anyone.  With that said, there are some things I’d like to see improved and changed.  So here is my full, objective HubPages Review.

What I Love About HubPages

HubPages is built wonderfully.  It’s ease of use and powerful features make it a big time winner for anyone looking to build online content and/or expand their online presence.  Here are the things that I love about HubPages:

1. Fast and easy signup process
2. Excellent Hub creation tools that make creating content fast and easy – this include text, titles, pictures, interactive polls, affiliate sales, advertisements and more.
3. Content is indexed quickly in search engines like Google
4. HubPages provides a great way to get backlinks to your other sites – although, make sure this isn’t your only goal
5. You can make money with your Hubs directly and indirectly – directly, the Hubs will generate money for you and indirectly they can generate money for your other websites.
6. Your profile itself can become a decent page rank site and offer you the ability to create quality backlinks to your other sites

What I’d Like To See Improved On HubPages

1. Ranking System - I’d like to see HubPages add some sort of ranking system to where individuals can be more recognized as a leader in a specific field or topic area.  This would allow you to really ramp up your presence in your area of expertise.
2. Better filtration of duplicate content.  I think HubPages could improve their content and become a better site for “trusted” content if they eliminate some of the duplicate posts where people are pumping out content just for the sake of pumping out content.  With that said, you need to work within the system that exists so if this is part of your strategy and HubPages is ok with it, so be it.  HubPages wants more content because that’s how they make their money too.
3. Different tiers of earning potential.  I’d like to be able to increase my ability to earn more in HubPages.  Maybe if I hit a certain level, they increase my percentage of what I get from ads, etc.

Who Should Use HubPages

• If you’re looking for a platform to publish articles or some of your writing
• If you have a special knowledge on a particular topic and want to share it with the world
• If you want to be a part of an online community
• If you want to take your online business to the next level by adding HubPages as a component to it
• If you want to make money online
• If you want to get quality backlinks and send quality traffic to your other websites

Who Shouldn’t Use HubPages

• If you’re looking to regurgitate articles that you write elsewhere
• If you’re looking for easy backlinks without writing any quality content

How Does HubPages Make Their Money?

They split the advertisement impression with you.  Typically they get 40% of the impressions and you get 60% of the impressions.  Simply put, they run a website where the content is built by the HubPages users and they get to advertise on a chunk of it.  Not a bad business model.
